The Good and Bad News on Working at Home
I used to earn a living in educating and management positions and did enjoy that. More recently, several of the past years I\’ve worked in real estate. In the latter there was more freedom to do a job in and out of the home being somewhat self employed. The truth is you are never truly \”self employed\” in the flexibility aspect once envisioned. Your clients and product maintenance, in addition to the requirement to respond satisfactorily all have an impact on your income. In addition, you don\’t get to time clock out.
When you are entirely working from home, namely web development and support there are some challenges as well as blessings. I type this as I say a prayer for the people that write code! I reside with one – poor guy.
It is becoming quite customary to find people working from home. A few go into accomplishing at home with the certainty that the payoff will certainly be total freedom for creativity to flow. In the near future they will learn that there\’s only so much we can control.
My grandson was 2 years old when we chose to provide him with an iPad. That triggered search for quality educational apps for him. Now that takes time! The good news is undoubtedly they are actually out there. Since the real estate market was changing, I put my focus to creating a website featuring quality educative apps for kids. Posting reports of only the greatest, with videos of the app in action, and supplying parents and caretakers advice on securing the iPad experience for their youngsters. An one stop website which makes known apps which have indeed also been screened for unsuitable advertising subject matter, in app buy and more.
This is where the challenges to have quality focus time can come in, or a few of them. It can take some time before family members as well as pals accept, and respect, that you are not really taking a break or \”readily available\” all day. Then there\’s is the yard man who doesn\’t seem to care that you are truly trying to focus. Toss in the door to door deals folks and the people\’s that phone you and you can lose a lot of time. The great news is that a few will adapt in time. So far that\’s as good as it gets so cling on to your sense of humor.
The true blessings for me are also obvious in the option to get away from the computer and relax on the outdoor patio or enjoy the trees sway when I take the time to regroup. Another favorite is the fragrance of dinner slow cooking all day. I adore the opportunity to be able to say yes if my daughter needs me to gather her son since she has to work late. It\’s a delight, he adores his Nana and soothes her soul.
Traffic is not really an issue while working at home. There is the occasional slowdown in commute schedule when the pups are laying in the hallway. Mike works at home also (that poor code guy) so there may be an unexpected collision when we both round the same corner from opposite sides simultaneously. It is so pleasant that we really don\’t have to find our insurance cards, but we do cash in on to laugh a great deal. That alone is simply reason enough to work at home.
Within a time seen by many being a downturn, I see more possibilities for us to brainstorm new ideas, site improvements, try out creative passions, and delight in watching them come to realization.
