When it comes to special tests and other diagnosis, your PCP will give you a referral to another doctor. They feature low deductibles or it can be no deductibles at all. They offer low copayments as well but provide the highest level of coverage. Some HMOs doesn’t have copayments when you visit your doctors. You only have limited choice when it comes to choosing physicians who are within the network.
Point of Service (POS) Plan – It is a combination of Preferred Provider Organization and HMO. You select a primary care physician and are also responsible for referring you to plan specialists. It is also considered as managed health care plan but not as much options in HMO. With this plan, you have the option to go outside the HMO network but will pay more for the care that you received outside the network. You need to have referral so that the company will pay for the services.
