When you\’re expecting to have a baby, the whole family becomes excited for the little angel to arrive. By the time the baby is born, he or she will surely be showered with different gifts that include basic necessities like diaper, clothes, etc. Other than those items, you might also receive baby gears like strollers, baby carriers, baby tubs and other kind of baby gears.

Everyone would want to give everything and the best ones for their babies. However, aside from thinking which kind of product you\’d want your baby to have, you should think about their safety. There are a lot of baby products that have been released into the market, but have been found to be hazardous for baby\’s health.

Product recalls may either be compulsory or voluntary. When a company faces compulsory product recall, this means that the recall was ordered by the law. This usually happens when there is sufficient evidence that there really is a high risk for injury to the consumers. A voluntary recall on the other hand, is done solely by the manufacturer without the order from the government. This is usually done to minimize the damages that have been caused by the product and, to save the company\’s image and preserve the trust of the consumers.

There are a lot of baby products being recalled by different manufacturers presently because it poses a choking hazard. Some baby gears and other items have small parts, which a child can place in his or her mouth and choke on it. Some recalls are made because of actual reports of babies getting hurt or worse. Examples of these products are strollers, which have an embroidered logo on the canopy which can come off. Six babies were found to have had the embroidered logo in their mouth, and two of them suffered from choking. Another is a work shop and tool set model, where the plastic nail that comes with the set poses a threat of being lodged in a child\’s mouth, which can cause choking. There are also other products that are being recalled because there are parts that break easily and can cause choking.

Other than choking, some products pose a serious threat of aspiration, strangulation and other dangers to your child. That is why you should update yourself about products that are being recalled and avoid purchasing them for your baby. It is also important for you to know if you\’re using a product that is being recalled by a company in order to have it replaced with another one or to be compensated for the damages that the product has caused.

Aside from baby gears, accessories, clothing, etc. another kind of product that can be recalled are baby foods. There are a lot of baby formulas, juices, baby snacks and other food types that have been recalled by companies because they pose a threat to your baby\’s health. These products may have had harmful substances mixed in them, which can cause mild to moderate poisoning.
