Chronic Inflammation Named #1 Enemy

A medical doctor is claiming that chronic inflammation is the “culprit” for practically every human disease out there. Everything from lupus, to allergies, to arthritis can be traced to inflammation that is chronic, this doctor asserts.

In a recent article published in VITAJOURNAL, published by TriVita, the company that makes Nopalea Juice, Dr. Samuel Grief said that chronic inflammation is “The #1 enemy of our lives” threatening our immune health.

All of these diseases are tough to regulate and treat. Dr. Grief says that most traditional doctors try to treat these hard to get under control diseases with pharmaceuticals including steroids and pills to reduce inflammation.

But the problem is some of these remedies can be toxic to some of the body’s organs and can even have negative side effects if taken the wrong way, he says.

In the article, Dr. Samuel Grief looks at the four ways that the body receives damage from chronic inflammation. Here’s what he says:

1. Heart failure caused by high blood pressure is a threat. When the blood vessels in the body became chronically inflamed and causes the heart to work harder, there is the risk of heart failure. In addition, when the heart is working harder, the body retains fluids so the heart can increase the volume of blood making its way through the inflamed blood vessels. This not only overworks the heart and weakens it, but also overtaxes the kidneys. This can make high blood pressure even more worse.

2. While only some allergies are life threatening, chronic inflammation can be linked to allergic responses. When the body reacts to something such as pollen, food or pet dander, the body releases a super power immune system response. This can result in inflammation that is chronic. We all know the symptoms of allergies, such as hives, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes.

3. Chronic inflammation has possibly been linked to MS and Alzheimer’s disease.

4. Obesity might be linked to chronic inflammation. Too much fat in the organs can cause inflammation. In addition, insulin resistance may be linked.

But the good news in Dr. Grief’s article is that inflammation can be battled through something as simple as eating right. Good nutrition is the key, Grief says.

He teaches his students that the old adage “you are what you eat” is really true.

Grief advises people to eat a diet chock full of healthy vitamins and minerals. He also recommends along with a balanced diet, people take a multivitamin and any other supplements to ensure adequate amounts of zinc, copper, folic acid and the Vitamins A, C, E. B-6.
