Dr. Oz and His 28-Day Plan

Dr. Mehmet Oz has spoken about the wonder of the Prickly Pear Cactus, the main ingredient in Nopalea Juice.

He always has good tips on staying healthy and shared more recently in Oprah’s magazine, giving steps to take over 28-days to get healthy.

Day One. Drink green tea. Green tea is chock full of antioxidants called catechins, Oz says. Drinking green tea has been linked to lower cancer risk and bad cholesterol levels and weight loss.

Day Two. Eat a small square of dark chocolate each day. This is another powerful antioxidant. Flavonols found in the cocoa help with circulation. They also are said to possibly help vision.

Day Three. Use four powerful, heart friendly ingredients when you cook: wild salmon, tomatoes, garlic, and lima beans. This provides you with omega-threes and other powerful antioxidants that fight disease and illness.

Day Four. Let go of resentments and forgive. It actually physically helps you. It lowers blood pressure, heart rate, depression, anxiety, and anger, Oz says n the article.

Day Five: Memorize some poetry. Helps your brain and spirit.

Day Six: Make love. It might also give you an immune system boost if you do it twice a week. It also helps reduce plaque buildup for women if they are satisfied in bed.

Day Seven. Jot down every morsel that enters your mouth to lose weight.

Day Eight. Walk for a half-hour each day. This helps with weight gain and helps lower your risk for stroke and heart attack.

Day Nine. Sleep more.

Day Ten: Meditate.

Day Eleven: Stop eating two hours before bed to reduce risk of stroke.

Day Twelve. Learn what a proper portion size is and stick to that.

Day Thirteen. Try to walk 10,000 steps a day.

Day Fourteen. Learn your family’s health history.

Day Fifteen. Take a multivitamin, calcium with magnesium, and vitamin D each day.

Day Sixteen. Figure out for body mass index (BMI), which is basically how fat you are.

Day Seventeen. If you drink decaf, switch to regular coffee, eat a snack after a workout, and leave your house or apartment windows open to the elements as much as possible.

Day Eighteen. Snack on popcorn. Sprinkle with cooking spray, garlic salt, or cinnamon for flavor.

Day Nineteen. Brown bag lunch with a choice of veggies, small portions and avoid low-fat traps.

Day Twenty. Find a healthy breakfast and eat it everyday, such as a blueberry and banana smoothie or grapefruit.

Day Twenty-one. Scour your pantry and toss any foods that list sugar as one of the first three ingredients. Also, toss foods that end in -ose or -ol as one of the first three ingredients.

Day Twenty-two. Connect with friends and loved ones.

Day Twenty-three. Floss to stay healthy.

Day Twenty-Four. Learn what a healthy person’s stool is supposed to look like.

Day Twenty-Five. Learn how to say no to avoid stress.

Day Twenty-Six. Stretch.

Day Twenty-Seven. Keep nutritious snacks so you don’t get hungry.

Day Twenty-Eight. Be kind to others, especially strangers in need.
