Entertaining Kids on the Weekend

During weekdays, your kids can have fun at school or keep themselves busy with school work. However, during weekends and holidays, most kids often spend their time on videos games or by watching TV. If your kids have the same weekend routine and you\’d want to do something about it, then you should find ways to entertain them during the weekend.

There are a lot of things that you can do with your kids to keep them entertained during the weekends. You can even have fun with your kids as well. Here are some things that you can consider doing to keep them entertained during the weekends:

1. Cooking/Baking

Cooking or baking can really be an enjoyable experience for your kids. If they are old enough to reach the table top and can be trusted with cooking, then you can do it with them. However, you should supervise them along the way, especially on handling sharp utensils and the use of fire.

There are a lot of things that you can do with your kids in the kitchen. You can bake cookies with different shapes or bake your own pizza which you can enjoy as an afternoon snack. There are a lot of easy-to-do recipes that you can find over the internet and in books, allowing many fun possibilities.

2. Flying a kite

Another thing that you can do with your kids is to fly a kite. This can be a great thing to do during windy weekends. There are kites being sold in most toy stores. You can just purchase one or two for you and your kid and have a fun time flying your kites.

However, creating your own kite with your kids can be more fun. You can let them pick out designs from different sources, and then provide them with the right materials. You should supervise your kids while they\’re making their kites. Once they\’re done, you can help them fly it in the air. They can enjoy it more, while seeing their own creation soaring in the wind.

3. Gardening

If you have a garden at home, you can let your kids help do the gardening. You can have them plant on your garden and allow them to take care of it. They can have fun planting and can continue watching the progress of their plant as it grows each day. You can have them plant herbs, trees or even vegetables.

If you don\’t have a garden at home and if your kids really like planting, then you can let them plant something in small boxes or in pots.

4. Ball games

Playing sports can also be fun. This can provide your kids with entertainment and have some bonding time with you. It can be fun playing basketball with them on your drive way. Aside from this, there are also lots of other stuffs that you can do like playing soccer, teaching your kid how to play pool, etc.
