Experience Better Self Confidence In Three Ways

There are some people who will readily tell anyone listening they have no self-confidence. Still others simply struggle thinking they’re shy or something will suddenly fall into place for them. Some people who know they would like to increase their confidence don’t take the steps to do so. It’s important not to let this area of your life get pushed aside because building self-confidence can help with a wide range of aspects. Their employment status will improve because they won’t hear their own voice saying they’re not the right fit for a higher paying job. They will start that diet because they have turned down the volume on the background noise saying they’ll never lose weight.

Work On Your Inner Monologue

A sure fire way to help you build confidence is to actively work on the voice inside your head. This means manipulating it away from the negativity that has had free rein for so long. And while this may sound strange, you are probably already experiencing the voice. It’s the one that tells you that you lost the job, failed the test and let everyone down. If you start changing it to say positive, uplifting phrases you will have increased confidence.

As a simple exercise take three areas of your life that you would like to build your self confidence in. For instance public speaking, spelling, and baking. Take an index card and write down a phrase for each activity that effectively says you are improving. For example, ‘I bake delicious oatmeal cookies.’ Take this card out and read the phrases several times a day for one week. At the end of the week attempt each of the activities and you’ll be surprised at how you build confidence.

Start Visualizing

If you want to increase your self-confidence then you want to do more than just muting all the negativity and blasting the positive words, you’re going to want to work on the pictures that play in your mind as well. Like the baseball coach that says ‘see that home run,’ you need to see you’re self in that career you’re chasing. You need focus on seeing yourself reach the goals that you are setting. At the same time you’re picturing it really attempt to put yourself in this position. Spend fifteen minutes everyday picturing your success while stating the positive words you need and you will build confidence.

Don’t Turn Aside Compliments:

It can be confidence building to hear that you do something well but many times in a person’s attempt at modesty they brush the statement aside. It won’t sink in that someone notices an area they excel at and would like to acknowledge it. By actually hearing what the person has just said and accepting it with a very real thank you- powerful confidence building will start deep in your subconscious. You’ll have received that outside recognition we all need to increase our confidence. Whatever it is they have complimented you on, remember and use it later with your visualization and positive inner monologue to boost your confidence even further.
