Unlike a local teacher, online instruction doesn\’t always tell you how much practice is necessary to become fluent in playing. You have to be in charge of your own self-discipline and if you can\’t succeed at that, there is no musical instrument that you will succeed at. The harder you work to absorb the lesson taught, the sooner you will become an accomplished player.

This is where you have to take a long, hard look at yourself and decide which character traits you possess. If you know you are lacking in being a good online student, you may want to reconsider and sign up for instruction locally. They will be on a weekly basis; you will be given a project to do; and you will also be expected to attend the next lesson prepared to play that lesson.

If you feel you have the right amount of self motivation to succeed with online lessons give it your best. You also may want to set up specific time periods throughout the week to practice the lesson given you. Allow for this to become a habitual pattern that you will follow throughout the term of the lessons.

If you find yourself falling behind, accept the fact that online guitar lessons are not adaptable to your mindset. You are just one of many who needs the student and teacher atmosphere to keep you working toward your goal of being able to play guitar. Choose the form that suits your personality and allow yourself to begin learning a much sought after talent.
