How to Find an Exercise Routine You Love

One of the most important things to taking on an exercise routine is that you find a routine you really enjoy. It\’s very hard to stick to doing something that you dislike for a long period of time.

Most people find that starting an exercise routine is difficult and feels like a chore in the beginning. However, a portion of those people quickly find that they enjoy and even begin to love that kind of exercise. Those are the people that last.

How do you find an exercise routine that you love?

==> Try All The Different Categories

There are many different kinds of sports you can experiment with. You can try running, you can try kung fu, you can try swimming.

In the beginning, before you know your preferences, try to get some experience with sports that are very different from one another.

So rather than trying running, swimming and cycling, which are all relatively similar, try weight lifting, badminton and boxing.

Trying a variety of different sports will give you more of a feel for what you like and what you don\’t like.

==> The Social Aspect Matters

The social aspect of any sports plays a large role in whether you like it or not.

Some people prefer solo sports like running or biking. They enjoy the opportunity to push themselves to their limits in their own private space.

On the other hand, a lot of people prefer one on one competitive environments. For example, playing tennis one on one is the preferred mode of exercise for many people in the country.

Still others find that the comradre found in group sports is what does it for them. Joining your local volleyball, soccer or kickball game can be a fun way to work up a sweat.

==> Try Different Gyms

Sometimes the gym itself matters. It might be the classes, it might be the general atmosphere, it might be the people who go to the gym.

Don\’t commit yourself to a gym before trying it out. Most gyms will give you a limited time pass for free so you can try out the amenities.

Take advantage of that offer at multiple gyms. Try to find one that you really like before saying yes. Of course, the membership salesman is going to try and pressure you into signing up for a membership now – But it\’s in your best interest to hold off until you get a sense for all the gyms in your area.

==> Enroll Your Friends

Having friends working out with you can be the key to a routine you love and stick to regularly.

Social reinforcement and the enjoyment that comes from doing something with other people is often a better motivator than the sport itself.

Also try to make it a point to meet other people. You never know who might turn out to be your best friend tomorrow.

If you try out a variety of different sports, including solo and team sports, test out different gyms and try working out with people you like, chances are you\’ll be able to find a workout routine that works very well for you.
