Is This You? “I’d Sell My Jewelry, But I Don’t Want To Get Ripped Off”
You’ve seen all the TV commercials pleading with you to send in your gold. It seems every shopping center in every town across America has a “Cash For Gold” store where the dry cleaners used to be. You can’t help but notice the flags, banners and curb signs yelling “We Buy Gold”
And you must admit, you thought about it. There is certainly at least a few pieces of old jewelry you would be willing to part with. And with the record high prices of being paid for shinny metals these days it actually makes perfect sense.
But there’s a nagging problem.
You\’re afraid and rightly so. Your worried that you could get ripped off. You’re worried because you have heard the horror stories. You’ve heard of people trying to cash in some jewelry, to make a few bucks, to relieve the economic pressures. But instead of a windfall they got taken to the cleaners . . . and not the one that used to be where the Gold Store sits now.
But why is it that so many people actually do get a pretty fair shake when they decide to sell? And what is the root cause of your anxiety and fear about selling your jewelry?
Well it can be summed up in one word. VALUE. You’re fearful of getting ripped off because you don’t know value. If you were positive what your jewelry was worth then getting ripped or cheated is an impossibility. The minute the buyer tries to low-ball you, it’s over. He loses. Because you know value.
One of two things happens now. Either you turn and walk away OR you never make it to the exit before the buyer (who really does want your gold) comes to his senses and offers a fair price. You should probably walk away anyway because this is not a reputable buyer. He or She is a shark. Yes, there are plenty of female sharks in the Cash For Gold waters.
What should you do? If you have items of value and you want to sell them, the first thing you need to do is get educated about what you have and then proceed with confidence. There is plenty of great information at your fingertips. If you can do an online search for a restaurant to fill your belly, you can certainly find the information online to feed your mind and pocketbook.
Once you know value and know the rules of selling scrap gold . . . the rest is easy. You can deal with any buyer with zero fear about getting cheated.
