Welcoming in the German festival this year is SAG Imports\’ Quesada Oktoberfest Bavarian cigars! Aficionados traveling to Munich will enjoy this flavorful Dominican tobacco stick while drinking a Marzen-style beer in the cigar tent. Even if traveling to Munich is out of the question, there are festivals all over the states to try this one out!

At the end of August, 2011, SAG released a limited quantity for resale. SAG Imports began handling the distribution of their cigars in the United States in 1993. The cigars are made at the MATASA factory and brought, here, to the U.S.A. for all to enjoy.

The Quesada Oktoberfest Bavarian cigar is available as the Bavarian (5.5 by 52) and the Uber (6 by 65). It is a Dominican Puro made in the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is of a Cibao Valley, Dominican Republic leaf.

It is dark, oily, and brown in coloring with one medium-sized vein that stands out. It has spots of black throughout the wrapper as well. The band dawns the signature company logo with a twist.

Along with the logo is the German flag striping the entire ring of its band. Most that did reviews on this cigar compared the wrap to a dark, oily maduro. The binder is Dominican Republic.

The filler consists of Cuban seed Dominican Criollo, Olor Viso, and Ligero. They classified this cigar as a medium to full bodied smoke. It is very firm to the touch, packed very tightly, and has a nice weight.

Barry, from \’A Cigar Smoker\’s Journal\’, commented after trying several of the Quesada Oktoberfest Bavarian cigars, \”I figured the name Oktoberfest was just a marketing ploy, but this cigar is no gimmick. As stated in the review, one can enjoy it without the beer, but to truly experience the cigar it should be paired with a hearty beer…\” All of the reviews are saying the same thing.

This unique blend is perfect for the dark ale drinkers out there. With the bitter sweetness of a molasses type of flavoring, it is a great pairing for this type of beer.

Many are in agreement that the Quesada Oktoberfest Bavarian burns beautifully and produces a wonderful smoke. They all enjoyed the rich, dark chocolate, the earthy notes and the smoked, woodsy flavors.

Many were surprised that it did not have the typical peppery kick. With very subtle changes from the first third to the last third, those that tried this cigar felt that the taste and smell got better and better as it slowly burned down.

Immediately after the cigar is easily lit, the spices fill the mouth while the smoke serves up notes of earthiness and smoked wood. As it burns, the ash holds on fairly well giving off a medium to dark black in coloring. There are toasty notes and a slight malt flavoring as well at the first third.

The second third brought forth the spicy flavors and even heavier on the dark chocolate and oak notes. During the final third of the Quesada Oktoberfest Bavarian cigar, there are the chocolate, spice and bread flavors at first.

It will bring back the malty, woodsy, earth flavors from the front. Almost all agreed that this cigar was definitely a robust, medium to full bodied smoke that was very well balanced and unique.
