San Cristobal Elegancia is made for Ashton Distributors by My Father Cigars. It is made in Nicaragua and comes in five sizes for humidor stocking: a Robusto (5 by 50), a Corona (5.5 by 46), an Imperial (6 by 52), a Pyramid (6.25 by 52), and a Churchill (7 by 50).

One reviewer smoked three Imperials for the review of this stick with Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, and Nicaraguan binder and filler. He then reports that this stogie has a gorgeous, nearly flawless, wrapper, and has a decent amount of oils as seen on fine cigars.

No soft spots were noted, although the foot was described as slightly spongy. This stick has a dual band, one with a green background with the well known parrot logo, and one with the word Elegancia. The pre-lit draw is reminiscent of cashews, and barnyard flavors, and it is easy to tell the San Cristobal Elegancia is going to be more delicate that some of the company’s other offerings.

After lighting with a cigar torch, some spiciness was present, but not as much as might have been expected from the company. A note of vanilla oak is the first flavor sensed at the beginning of the stogie, and as the smoke progresses through the first third, cedar, earth and nutty notes appear.

The second third of the San Cristobal Elegancia is very smooth and very creamy. That last third is a slightly stronger medium compared to the earlier two-thirds of the smoke being mild, but similar notes remain.

The stick presents a solid white ash and exhibits nice burn. Although the ash holds well, it reportedly drops hot, so that is something to watch out for. The perfect draw of the stick is what one expects with such a beautifully handmade cigar.

The San Cristobal Elegancia Robusto also has a Connecticut wrapper. It is light, as one would expect, and perhaps even lighter than typical. Little to no veining, a papery, rough feel, and a triple cap give this stick personality.

The aroma before lighting is dry and smooth and has some cedar, in addition to other pleasant farm smells. The cold draw hints of cedar and earth, in addition to the aged tobacco. Once lit, the earthy tone is joined by the cedar, and some leather.

A delicious creaminess is first noted about halfway through the smoke. This stogie is thought to be worth smoking, and is considered especially appealing as a morning smoke.

The Connecticut shade wrapper is apparently quite popular in cigars produced in 2011. Another San Cristobal Elegancia Robusto Imperial review mentions an early flavor profile dominated by pepper and spice, followed by the addition of butter accented with a little dry pepper.

The cedar spice increases as the second third begins, even as some sweet citrus starts to develop. About halfway through, the citrus becomes prominent, and the final third wraps up with the cedar spice returning to the front and center.
