Some Exercises For Your Ab Workouts

The abs, even though they are not directly involved in most of our motor movements (such as the arms and legs), is still a very important part of the muscular system. Being a part of the body\’s core, the abs has a vital role in maintaining the balance and stability of the entire body. This is why shaping them thru exercises isn\’t just for aesthetic purposes, but it is also for increasing your body\’s overall performance. With that said, you might be asking yourself of some exercises that you can add into your ab workouts. Fortunately, there are a lot of workouts that target this quite sensitive area. In this article, we are going to share some exercises that you can use for working out your abs.

* Crunches- Also known as the sit-ups, it is perhaps the most classic among all of the exercises that you can use for your abs. Though there are some people that say that this exercise is ineffective, you can make this exercise work in your favor. The key to successful crunches is performing them correctly. Make sure that when you are doing crunches, your abs must be contracting. That is the most effective indicator that you are doing it the right way. To increase resistance, you can use different variations such as bicycle crunches, crunches with exercise balls, crunches with medicine balls, etc.

* Leg Raises- This acts like crunches, but the motion is on the complete opposite. You are going to use your abs to raise your legs until it is at least perpendicular to your chest. The number of reps for this exercise depends on the person\’s endurance. However, when performing this exercise, never arch your back or swing your legs as this reduces the effectiveness of the exercise.

* Side Bends- Performing them is almost like crunches. You are going to employ the same steps but you are going to do it sideways. This, together with lateral crunches, work out the oblique, the muscles on the side of your abs.

* Chops- This is one of the more advanced ab workouts, so you got to be really disciplined when performing this one. The starting motion is going to start with your hands up in the air then forcefully chopping down to either the right or left side. You can perform this exercise either with the help of a medicine ball or with a cable machine. When performing this exercise, it is important that you work out both sides.

* Planking- While this is becoming popular as a \”stunt\”, this is one of the more effective ab exercises that you can do. A form of isometric exercise, there\’s no movement involved when planking but it stimulates the contraction of your abdominals. You can do this by lying on your stomach, lifting your body into a pushup position, then holding it as long as you can.

As you\’ve just seen, there are many exercises that you can use to create your ab workouts. Do these properly and consistently, and you\’ll have solid abs in no time.
