Cleanliness is important especially when dealing with children. Why? Because they still do not have a complete immunity against different kinds of diseases. Lots of microorganisms can be found in dirty places. And always bear in mind that moisture is a good medium for growth hydrophilic bacteria. Having this knowledge, we must encourage our students to participate in cleaning. This will also teach them to fulfill the given task, hence, increasing their sense of responsibility.

But how can we do it? By simply dividing the total student’s populace and allowing them to choose their own teammates. In this way, they are more likely to cooperate with each other. Provide a cyclical cleaning schedule to prevent bias in distributing various tasks. To further understand, you need to divide the class into 5 groups and assign them on their respective areas. For example, group no.1 will be accountable in working rooms while group number 2 must be in the learning room. In this way, ambiguity will be eliminated.

Apparently, you cannot implement this without providing them some cleaning materials. These equipment should be user-friendly to prevent injuries. So what are the things needed?

1. Broomstick and dust pans are essential. It should be small and easy to grasp. Kid’s hands are too small. To put everything into reality, you need to modify the equipment’s size and appearance. Also, ascertain that it must be made in plastic – this will prevent potential abrasions when using wooden broomstick. In addition, children are too naughty to the point that they can use these materials to injure their classmates.

2. Trash can should be separated according to its usability. Place green cans for biodegradable wastes and black for dry and non-biodegradable trash. Waste segregation will aid children to develop self-discipline that may be used in building their personality.

3. A small feather dust will be used in cleaning waiting room toys. Stress the importance of removing dusts and other small particles – for it may cause asthma. To hinder it, help your students in cleaning all hidden sides of the shelves. Don’t forget to use facial mask when cleaning to avoid inhaling dust.

4. Classroom rugs must be changed everyday or depending on its condition. Children are more likely to drink juices or other beverages that can make rugs so sticky when spilled. And frequent washing may make classroom rugs old and worn out. Replace it with new ones when needed. Anyway, washing rugs is not the responsibility of your students, so this task should be excluded on their daily activities.

Obviously, replacement of cleaning materials like classroom rugs means additional expenses. However, to save money, we can purchase all materials before the class year begins, in the middle of the semester, as well as before the class year ends. Some stores will give discounts when you buy multiple items.
