Flying on British Airways to the Summer Olympic Games
British Airways is one of the oldest airlines in the world. They began flying in 1919, and have been serving the world ever since that time. From North America they fly to Europe, and with their airline partners, cover the globe. They fly to six hundred destinations around the world. It is possible to purchase a one-year itinerary for that holiday of a lifetime to explore the world.
If you are heading to London this summer for the Summer Olympic Games and Paralympics Games, book far enough ahead that you won’t be disappointed. British Airways is offering packages that include hotel and car if you require one. Booking these together will save you money, and insure that you will have a place to stay during the very busy days of the games. The whole world will be there, and you don’t want to miss the excitement.
A new Olympic Park is being built for the games, and other venues in London and the outlying districts are being prepared for the big event. The new Olympic Stadium will host over two hundred events. It was built using recycled and sustainable materials, and will hold 80,000 visitors. It is located on an island at the south end of Olympic Park, and reached via five bridges. Removable seating was installed for the events, and the Stadium will have that flexibility for increased capacity once the Games are over. Services, refreshments and merchandise facilities are located in a ring surrounding the Stadium itself. In the future, it will be used for sports and other cultural events.
A new Aquatic Centre has also been built in Olympic Park for the Games. The Centre will host nearly two hundred events, and a nearby Water Polo Arena will see those competitors vying for the gold. The Aquatic Centre was designed with a wave-shaped roof that has a wider span that that at Heathrow Airport.
The entire Olympic Park holds nine separate venues for sports. The Park is easily accessible via public transit. Extra trains will be put to use during the games to carry the large numbers of spectators. London is gearing up with signage, extra staff to keep things running smoothly and park-and-ride stations are being installed at various key points on the route to the Park. A little planning ahead will ensure that you arrive at the Games in good time. If you decide to stay outside London for your visit, many rail lines connect to Olympic transit services.
