How Gyms Make Use of Audio Visual Equipment
Once upon a time a gym was somewhere we used to go to do physical exercise. People did not care so much about the facilities or amenities. They had one goal in mind. And that was to do their exercise routine.
We have come a long way since the first gyms opened. Nowadays it is not just about getting your exercise done. It is about socializing, it is about seeing and being seen. For many people it is almost a religion. Skipping one or two days might be unconceivable for some. Body worship has taken great importance in some cultures.
Upon seeing this, many gyms started to think of what else they could offer their members for a sublime experience. It would also be a good excuse to raise their membership fees. A greater experience would mean being able to charge more. So steam rooms, spa treatments, tanning beds and classes of all sorts were added to the gym experience. The equipment and machines also got better, much better. Today it is very easy to find bicycles with television sets incorporated; you plug your headphones to your TV monitor and you are set go. It is a lot easier and certainly more bearable to cycle for 30 minutes if you are entertained.
Usually there are many TV channels or radio stations to choose from. And if your bicycle doesn’t come with a television set, most certainly there will be a bunch of them scattered around the walls.
Entertainment at the gym is key. On any given day and at any given gym there will be a lot of television sets on, all of them broadcasting different channels. People lift weights, run, and stretch or just waste time while glued to their favourite reality show, soap opera or the news. It is a lot easier to take the pain or the suffering if we are having fun. It might even help us reach some kind of foolish goal; “I will get off this treadmill when that contestant gets eliminated.”
What about the classes that are offered at different times? Spinning class, body pump, body jam, body step, body vive, body fusion, circuit training, step and tone, you name it. All of these could not be carried out without music. Usually very loud music. Many club owners would dream of having an audio and speaker system many gyms are equipped with nowadays.
There is a big part of gym goers that would not go if it weren’t for these additional extras. Some people might not want to go to the gym by themselves but music and entertainment might give them a sense of companionship. We want to be fit and look good and the use audiovisuals in the gym helps us accomplish that with a seemingly smaller effort. What might be in store for gym goers in the near future?
For Gym owners it can be a tricky business trying to find someone who will be able to take care of such large scale installations, however a simple internet search will reveal a number of specialist gym audio visual companies who will be able to undertake the task.
