The New Testament gives us a great perspective on life and explains how to live it. From the basic tenets of loving as Jesus Christ has loved to living with the hope of eternal salvation, the foundation of all Christian perspective stems from the words and promises of Jesus Christ. The New Testament is the directory for living in Christ and it shows us how to look at life from a Christian point of view.

One of the first things to realize is that the New Testament tells us all we need to know about living in truth. Jesus has said that the old life that was lived before you knew Him is gone. Nothing is held against a person from the sin and chaos that existed before knowing Jesus. In this new life we get guidance to live not for the world but for what is right and good. The New Testament says that we are not to conform to the world; we are not to live the way people who do not know Christ live. People without Christ are more concerned and focused on gaining material possessions and having fame. It is not against God to own nice things, however it shouldn\’t be our goal. Our treasure awaits us in eternal life. Enjoying life is great but we should seek to show others that we do not belong to society. We belong to God.

Another New Testament perspective shows us that we should treat others with love and respect. We should do things for others out of our desire to be like Christ. Never should we act out of greed, ambition, and spite or for accolades. It should not matter what others say about our good deeds. We shouldn\’t seek glory for ourselves, but glory for God. In all that we do, we are to keep God the focus of our actions. In doing so, we make sure he gets all the praise for the good we do, for we do not do it for ourselves anyway.

One of the most important New Testament lessons on life pertains to sharing our faith. Our most sacred job as a follower of Christ is to be a beacon unto him. We are to put our light out into the world for all to see who has given us this joy. Telling others about Jesus is our primary duty. While we cannot force anyone into our faith, what we can do is share our light and show our love. We don\’t approach others with judgment, but with love. We keep our lives out in the open, allowing others to freely see the transparency with which we live. We have no ugly parts to hide.

It is never promised in the New Testament that our journey will be one of ease or trouble free. However, with all of the perspectives on life handed down to us therein, we can navigate the problems and circumvent falling victim to the evils of human existence. There is hope in the way life is presented for Christians.
