Tips For Hanging a Door Wreath
There are many kinds of door wreaths, from wreaths with a specific theme to seasonal door wreath to wreaths for all occasions. You can hang them in different parts of the house but, the most popular location is on doors. There are so many ways on how you can make that door wreath look great on your door. The key is to know which one best suits the door, your home and the messgae you want it to convey to guests.
How to choose a door wreath
First and foremost, what do you want? What do you want the door wreath to say about you? Choosing an indoor wreath is much easier than an outdoor wreath. If you want to hang it inside your house, consider a preserved or a dried wreath, keep it away from humidity which could make any dyes run on to the paint or sunlight which may cause extreme drying. In deciding on a door wreath, consider how long you want it to last. If they contain fresh materials, then it\’ll most likely last a few days. Silk wreaths will last for years.
How big the door wreath should be
The average door size is 36 inches. A door wreath that is 22 to 24 inches would be perfect for this door. Doors that are 28 to 32 inches can handle wreaths that are 16 to 18 inches. For interior doors that are larger, a 22 inch wreath may also be used.
How to hang a door wreath
The easiest way is probably putting a nail on your door. But most people do not like to do this because of the hole that that nail will leave. Do not worry there are other options. There are hangers that you can buy that have hooks on both ends. The bigger hook goes over the top of door, just slip it in. The smaller one on the other end is where you hang the wreath. To make it aesthetically pleasing, pick a color that is the same as your door. If it is not available, cover the hanger with a ribbon that is the same color as your door. Or simply use a color that complements both the wreath and the door. Then again if you have a ribbon or fabric that can hold the weight of your door wreath, you can do away with the hanger and just use that ribbon. Attach one end to the wreath and secure the other end on the top of the door using a hand tucker or thumbtacks.
If you have a steel door, try using a magnet hook. If you have a wooden or glass door, there are hooks that have double sided adhesives on the back which you can stick to the surface of the door, some call it a \”command hook.\”
A door wreath should hang at eye-level (usually 12\”-18\” down from the top center of the door). Or if you want it to be symmetrical, measure.
Just like any piece of home decor, a door wreath can dictate the mood in a certain room or home. It can make someone comfortable in your home, it can make someone smile, it can exude class and style, or simply say \”Welcome to my home.\” A door wreath will speak volumes so pick one that shows how you feel and will look good with the rest of your house.
