Guttate Psoriasis is another type of psoriasis which is characterized by having small pink drops in the skin. Small drop-like papules that have fine scale that usually measures around 1-10mm in diameter are the usual manifestations present in the bodies of the people who have this kind of condition. These papules usually appear on the person’s proximal extremities and on the trunk, but it could also have a generalized distribution.

The disease is believed to be triggered when a person is exposed or has streptococcal or bacterial infection. These pink papules usually appear 2-3 weeks after the person suffers from strep throat. This type of psoriasis is common to persons who are younger than 30 years. Viral infections are believed to be the reason why Guttate Psoriasis is triggered in children. Rubella, roseola and chicken pox are examples of these viral infections.

(2) Penicillin VK- this antibiotic is usually used with caution, especially to those who are allergic to penicillin. It is also used for the treatment of bacterial infections. (3) Rifampin – this drug is given to patients who have developed resistance to streptococcal infection.

Ultraviolet or UV light, which is usually present in the sunlight is proved to be helpful in the reduction of symptoms on some people. The doctor would prescribe the patient to have a short course of phototheraphy.

Along with the other types of psoriasis, Guttate Psoriasis usually worsens during winter period and improves specially during the summer. Skin may become dry during cold season and moistens during summer. Having a healthy skin is essential when you have this condition.
