The hardest part of being a mother is finding time to go out to work. Let’s face it, no one who has kids wants to have to go out to work and leave their kids with someone else. I know I didn’t. I hated the thought that someone else was spending more time with my kids than me. That’s when I knew I needed a job I could do from home and I found the ideal solution.

The answer came with the internet. I soon realized that there must be money to be made online because so many other people were doing it.

I started looking around the internet and seeing all the different websites. Some were obvious business websites with things to sell or services to offer. Some were privately owned websites where people made money selling things online through eBay and other similar websites. And others seemed to be nothing more than small information websites and I began to wonder how these little sites earned money online.

I looked around for months and finally came to the conclusion that they must make money from the advertisements on their site. But how? I looked into it some more and started reading everything I could about making money online.

The only problem with that though, was that all the information I could find only talked about creating big flashy websites that could suck people in with all the fancy sales pages and make them splash cash on the latest gimmick. And all the gimmicks for sale seemed to be about making money online. It seemed as though everyone was making money online by telling others how to make money online by selling products/books like theirs about making money online.

It was enough to make my head spin.

All I wanted to do was set up a website, write articles and make money from it. But I didn’t know what to do and there seemed to be nothing about how to do it.

I then noticed that some people were making money from Pay Per Click Advertising. These are ads that are placed on a website by simply copying and pasting a small piece of code. This code displayed ads and when a visitor clicked on an ad, the website owner earned money for each click. How much they were earning was hard to find out, but what ever it was, I figured that if you got enough clicks in a day, it would all add up.

So I ventured into setting up my own website and applied to Google for an Adsense account, because that seemed the easiest and quickest to do. I then got the code for my ads, copied and pasted it onto my website and viola! The ads started appearing on my website along side my articles and people started clicking on them.

The money earned per click wasn’t much, usually just a few cents or a couple of dollars, but it was surprising how quickly the money in my account went up even from such small amounts earned per click.

I found lots of articles online about how others were getting higher paid clicks by creating websites about gambling or credit card debt or other niches where the pay per click for ads was much higher.

And while I thought about doing the same, I soon realised that writing articles on those subjects was boring and I didn’t want to do it.

So instead I simply created another website in a similar niche to my own and then another and then another. And then it didn’t matter any more that I was earning only a few dollars or cents per click because I was now getting so many more clicks.

And because all I was doing was writing short information articles, I only needed to work part time and I could choose my own hours.

I soon also discovered that there was money to be made online by promoting other people’s products. This is called affiliate marketing and is just as easy to do as pay per click marketing, except that instead of earning money for each click, I was earning money from each sale that resulted from a click through from one of my websites. And I was earning anything from a few dollars up to several hundred dollars, depending on what was purchased.

And what made affiliate marketing even more simpler, was that I found affiliate networks online that offer thousands of products from hundreds of different companies, all waiting for affiliate marketers to help them make sales.

Now a days my children are much older and no longer need me to be at home with them. But I never went back out to work for someone else and I still work online, only now I have 11 websites and spend my days writing for all of them and writing marketing articles to attract more visitors to the sites.

Creating niche websites is one of the easiest and most profitable jobs I’ve ever had.

I don’t have to travel to work every day (unless you count walking into my library where I work), I didn’t have to pay childcare costs, I could be at home to look after my kids if they were ill, and I’m much happier because there’s less stress and rush in my life.

So if you’re a mother who wants to work from home, consider setting up your own money making websites. It’s a choice I’ve never regretted and over time, I’ve built up a profitable online business.
