For those patients who have significantly low hairlines due to hair placed in the wrong location and direction, laser hair removal would be an appropriate method for repair. It does not require any invasive procedure but rather it only uses “selective photothermolysis.” Using high intensity light at a specific wavelength it targets the pigment of the hair follicles. The drawback to this procedure is that it is not very effective in individuals with light hair. It can even cause a discoloration on the scalp for those who have darker skin because it is the pigment in their skin which absorbs the light energy more.

Scalp micro-pigmentation is also another technique where cosmetic tattoos are made to permanently mimic hair. The resulting look will be similar to a scalp with shortly shaved hairs. This is appropriate for alopecia areata, male/female pattern baldness or scarring alopecia.

Another hair transplant repair technique is fixing the scar area. Of course this vertical line creates a poor aesthetic effect, and there is a good way of concealing this. It is done by the extracting hairs surrounding the scar and then implanting them directly on it.
