Gaining Muscle

I once heard a prominent bodybuilder who after winning a competition was asked what aspect of the sport he particularly enjoyed, to which he replied quote, ‘I get to carry my trophy with me wherever I go’. Not only does bodybuilding enhance the image of the physique, but has considerable benefit by contributing greatly to health and relaxation, and a complete sense of well being.

Muscle building today is a lot more than just leaving for the gym pumping iron and expecting a lot of gains in mass and strength. What is needed is a strategy and a sensible approach to increasing size and time spent, after all who has time to do nothing in this busy world in which we live.

Getting bigger and stronger today has become so much more of a science today, and adopting this approach is likely to save you years of wasted effort and enable you to arrive at your destination that much quicker.

If you can be patient and are prepared to train hard there is no doubt in my mind that you will achieve some marvelous gains. Perhaps one of the most important things to remember in your quest to achieve that muscular and lean look is that you maintain your poise with your training efforts. What I mean to say by this is that you allow your body sufficient time to rest between workouts. When you lift heavy and hard you shock the various systems of the body, and they in order to heal need time before you shock them again. People in their hurry to obtain size think that more must be better, however this could not be further from the truth, more in most cases leads to an over trained body resulting in no gains.

Secondly, it is essential that you eat big to get big. I am not talking about food lacking in vitamins here but nutrients obtained from good food sources. For example: You\’re in the gym you are training hard and burning calories up, imagine if you don\’t consume many more calories than what you are using! There literally is no way that you are going to obtain any mass or for that matter get any bigger than what you are. Unfortunately there are many people that fall into this category, but you know they can train forever like this and never get anywhere. It doesn\’t matter how difficult one\’s training session is if this principle is not adhered to there will be no results.

Good execution and choice of exercise also rank very high in terms of achieving a body with lots of muscle. There are certain types of exercises that primarily stimulate muscle fibers, and a number of basic compound movements used by strong men and bodybuilders to add mass to the most difficult of gainers. It is important also to understand when training how muscles actually grow with each other. When training body parts are often called into play with other muscle parts which can as previously mentioned also result in an over trained state.

Taking these things into view along with other important factors will ultimately see you successful in your muscular progress.
