How to Make a Fleece Scarf Gift

1. Wash the fabric using a sensitive skin laundry detergent such as All Free and Clear or Seventh Generation. This will bring out any shrinking that could happen and also ensure that the fleece is anti-pill.

2. Start by laying out your fabric on a flat surface. Be sure that the fleece is completely smooth. You will see the rolled edge of the fabric which is approximately one centimeter wide along one edge. Cut this off following the fabric as your guide.

3. Next, use a ruler to measure 12 inches across the fabric. You are measuring the distance across the yard or half of a yard of fabric which you have purchased. This should be shorter length. Fleece typically comes in 48-inches or 60-inches as the width. This will be marked on the fabric at your local craft store. Use the dressmakers chalk to draw a line and then cut the fabric.

5. Line up both pieces of fleece and pin the long sides together using straight pins in a horizontal direction. Do not pin the short sides.
