Silk flower making is an easy process if you have learned the steps. In fact it is fun to make silk flowers on own. You can design the flowers according to your mother’s favorite colors or according to the home decor. You can match the color of the flowers and can make them lovely. Some of the things you need to collect for making the silk flowers are: first of all you must have cardboard, one fresh rose, silk, green silk for petals, scissors, pen / pencil, stick iron, green florists tape and green floral wire. You can add beads, ribbons and other accessories for making bouquet of silk flowers. Mostly silk flowers are bunched together, but they can also be arranged in vase and bouquet. The first step is to collect the petals from the real flowers; you must have 18 to 20 petals with you. Also collect the leaves along with petals if you can. These petals and leaves are then placed on the cardboard. Then you need to trace the shape of the petals and leaves with the help of pencil. The next step is to place the thin double stick iron interfacing between two silk pieces. Spread the silk pieces on the cardboard and then do this process. Iron the pieces together; the interfacing is mainly used for keeping the petals of silk firm like original petals. In this way the silk flowers will not drop off.

Then you need to cut the leaves and petals drawn on cardboard with the help of scissors, you need to leave a small stub at the bottom in order to make easy attachments. You need to cut number of petals of different sizes. Use the florist green tape for securing the petals to the florist wire. You must start the process with the smallest petal and cease with green petals. When silk flower is complete, wrap the tape along the length of the stem and try few more petals if necessary. You can make as many silk flowers as much liked by your mother or as much material is available with you. You can arrange them in a vase. Add shimmer and spray paraffin along with glitter to give a shinny look to the bouquet. For making the bouquet fresh, you can add drop of flower essential oil.
