It\’s Your Wedding Day – Heels or Flats?

It\’s your wedding day. You want to look your best. Everything from your hair and make up through, of course, your dress, the flowers you carry to the shoes you wear. Everything has to be perfect for the big day. Unfortunately, it\’s also going to be a long day so as much as perfection is important, so is comfort.

That\’s why the choice of shoes you make is a vital decision. Do you wear heels for that killer look or do you take comfort into consideration and go with flat shoes? And would you really be trading the perfect look in if you went for comfort?

The answer is, quite simply, no, you would not. Such is the range of designs in wedding shoes these days that flat shoes can be just as stunning as the heels most brides opt for. There are a growing number of designers specialising in wedding shoes that are offering both flats and heels that have amazing looks.

Designers like Harriet Wilde, Rachel Simpson and Filippa Scott Shoes produce shoes for almost all wedding styles and themes and all of them offer a flat option for the bride wanting comfort as well as the perfect look.

There\’s no doubting that heels do something for a woman. They give her height, they lend themselves more naturally to the overall look of wearing a dress and, especially in the case of a wedding dress, they allow for dress lengths to be longer.

Add in the fact that they have a heel, the designs are often more creative. But flat shoe design is catching up and Harriet Wilde in particular has created some amazing styles that compliment wedding dresses. Just one example is the Lille Lace Rose wedding shoe from her collection. It\’s simple design with the rose flourish is perfect for brides wearing white with an emphasis on flowers – and it\’s comfortable.

Spending well over 12 hours in heels is uncomfortable for even the most seasoned heel wearers and no bride is going to want to be in agony towards the end of the most important day of her life. Wearing flat shoes allows her to remain comfortable throughout her big day without compromising on style.

Her first dance won\’t be ruined by grimaces of pain and she\’ll be able to dance the night away with her friends, family, bridesmaids and, of course, new husband without worrying about the state of her feet in the morning.

There is also the option, albeit a potentially expensive one, of having both flat shoes and heels. Brides could opt to wear the heels for the ceremony and photographs before switching to flats for the wedding breakfast, dancing and drinking! Something worth thinking about at least…

So the next bride you know debating over her choice of wedding shoes for the big day, steer er in the direction of the equally stunning and comfortable footwear on offer from the designers mentioned above. She won\’t be sorry!
