The problem with this concept is that you actually are starving your body for nutrients. Usually, the laxative or “drink” that is offered pulls out water soluble vitamins and minerals and without addition nutrients coming in, you are depriving your body. Over time, this can lead to a deficiency. Perhaps most shocking of all, is that once you start eating again after the seven day lull, you begin putting back on the pounds you thought you had just taken off.
