Computers which are lower than Pentium 4 class might not be able to use the program since the program requires a fast computer in order to function efficiently. The RAM chips or DDR chips should also meet the requirements in order for the program to work. It often required at least 1GB or RAM or more so that it can scan well without being locked by the OS.

In terms of video resolution, it is important to have at least 1024 x 768 or higher. The reason for this is that various controls and buttons are designed in several lists. In the screen is too small or the VGA resolution is low then the controls might be hidden in sight. Therefore, users will not be able to use the program well. This is also the case when it comes to internet browsers. Internet browsers can actually be integrated with the scanning software so if the OS is using a very low class browser then the document scanning program might not be able to integrate well. For internet browsers, the typical type of browser needed is Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. Of course, higher versions as well as other browsers can also be used.

When the Scanning software is based on a Capture server or Web server then there are also some requirements that must be completed. One of which is that the Operating System should have a server connected. It can be Windows Server 2003 or higher depending on the OS. Storage capacity should be 500 MB or higher so that the files which are scanned can be placed in the server. If the user will be using SQL configuration, then SQL compatible servers should be placed. XML readers should also be installed. Such are the requirements when installing document scanning software programs.
