The Importance Of Correctly Planning Your Kitchen

The kitchen is undoubtedly the heart of any home – every day, we spend hours in our kitchens preparing meals for loved ones, dealing with those ever-growing piles of dirty dishes or making that vital cup of morning coffee to get us ready for the long day ahead.

Given the time we spend in our kitchens, good planning and design is essential for ease of use and comfort. Yet whilst many of us spend hours deciding what shade of cream we\’d like for the lampshades in our living rooms or debating on the intricacies of different floral patterns for our duvet covers, our kitchens are often neglected and left in a mishmash of oddly-placed cookers and microwaves on random sides.

Why planning is important

A badly designed kitchen can cause a multitude of problems. Space is probably the issue most of us encounter, usually caused by poorly thought out worktop space or appliances being placed in awkward positions. Lack of space is not only frustrating in a practical manner either; one quick spin with a hot pan off the hob can mean burns and injuries to other members of the family.

The placement of various \’stations\’ in relation to each other within the kitchen is also important. For example, will there be space beside the sink for dirty plates? Will whoever gets the job of washing up be getting in the way of someone prepping food for cooking? These issues cause problems in kitchens across the country, both practically and through causing arguments between members of the family.

Kitchen planning made easy

The prospect of planning the perfect kitchen is quite a daunting one for the majority of people; a perceived lack of design skills and uncertainty over where to place essentials such as sinks mean most of us are put off before we even begin.

We needn\’t be however. Advances in kitchen planning software now mean that designing an aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly kitchen is as easy as dragging and dropping a sink onto a virtual worktop. Choosing the said worktop is now as easy as cycling through a virtual catalogue, doing away with uncertainty and any costly mistakes.

What\’s more, kitchen planning software is readily available to most of us through most major kitchen retailers. This kind of software is programmed for ease of use and user functionality, making designing your perfect kitchen quick, easy and headache-free!

Kitchen planning software also allows even the most reserved of us to allow our imaginations to go wild. Have a particularly odd layout design that you’re unsure of? Design software allows you to experiment and, thankfully, get rid of what doesn’t work.

Every day thousands of us put up with badly designed kitchens, either through our own mistakes or poor design work on the part of builders. Perhaps due to the sheer perceived size of the task, a great deal of us will continue to make do. However, when easy-to-use kitchen planning software is so readily available, all it takes to create the kitchen of your dreams is a bit of imagination.
