The New Barclays Premiership Review: Part One:
I’ve decided to take a look at the latest squad line-ups and predicted final placings for the new season. The best bets and prices have also been added on www.megasportsite.com – enjoy!
Arsenal
Considering the start they made, Arsenal did remarkably well in the 2011/12 campaign. To finish third was one of Arsene Wenger’s biggest achievements. However despite the signings of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, this transfer window seems like it will be full of disappointment, with Robin Van Persie refusing a new contract and looking like he will be going to one of the Manchester giants.
As I has mentioned before this transfer window seems like it will be full of disappointment. Their captain, Robin Van Persie, looks to be leaving. It was his goals which fired Arsenal out of mediocrity and into 3rd place. He is one of the best strikers on the planet and will be almost impossible to replace. But if the owners delved into their deep pockets imp sure the gunners would find some way to compensate.
With Robin Van Persie leaving, it will be hard for Arsenal to improve on last season, but with Jack Wilshere returning and new signings coming in I see no reason why they cannot challenge for a champion’s league spot.

Predicted finish: 5th
Aston Villa
Last season was an extreme disappointment for the villains, for a team that has won the European cup, finishing 15th is never acceptable. With Paul Lambert at the helm Aston Villa will hope to improve greatly on their last campaign. Darren Bent will be fit for the start of the new season and if some new, creative players, are brought in he could really set the premier league alight next season.
Aston Villa has held onto Kerion Clarke, Mark Albrighton and Darren Bent so far, Agbonglahor has been linked with a move; however it has not happened as yet. Villa has brought in two players of their own but they are both relatively unknown and will have to prove themselves in the premier league.
With Paul Lambert at the helm Aston Villa could really improve on last year. However, I don’t think it will be enough to overly please the Villa fans next season.

Chelsea
Chelsea had a shaky start to the season under AVB, they never looked solid at the back and he failed to impose his footballing philosophy. The back four pressed to far up the pitch and left them exposed, this lead to Andre Villias Boas’s downfall. Under Roberto Di Matteo, Chelsea found a new spring in their step, they won the FA cup and the champions league. Will this mean they can be a major title challenging force next season? If Di Matteo can keep the momentum coming then it looks like they will be.
After already signing Eden Hazard from Lille this transfer window, it looks like Chelsea will go on a major spending spree to match Man City and Man Utd. With Luka Modric being linked with the blue’s this transfer window look like it will go well for the west Londoners.
Next season could go very well for Chelsea if Di Matteo can keep his magic going into next season.

Predicted finish: 2nd
Everton
Everton seem to be stuck in a constant sense of Groundhog Day. They struggle and flirt with relegation in the first half of the season, and then they seem to pick themselves up and do brilliantly throughout the second half of the season. If they could keep this up at the start of they could easily qualify for the Champions League. David Moyes has done a brilliant job with a shoestring budget and if he can continue to work his miracles, Everton should have another solid season.
Everton have already brought in Naismith from Rangers which should be a signing. He could link up brilliantly with his ex teammate Jelavic. However, Fellani has been linked with an exit and Pienaar has gone back to Tottenham after his loan spell. They will need to keep their top boys if they are to improve on last season.
I believe that under David Moyes that Everton should have another stable season.
