Training Your Dog and Staying Stress Free
Everyone loves the idea of having a dog as a member of the family. They have so much to offer and make wonderful companions. What many people do not realize and take into consideration when they first decide to get a dog is how much work really needs to go into having a dog. It is a lot more than playing catch, snuggling on the couch and playing with the kids. There is a great deal of responsibility and care that goes in to having a pet like this, including training. You want to try and work with training your dog and staying stress free.
No one ever said it would be easy to have a dog and train it. Many owners get very frustrated by the training experience and the episodes of misbehavior, accidents in the home, chewing of belongings and more. It can be very frustrating for a person when they feel like they are making no progress in the training.
One thing you need to remember is that training needs to start right away as soon as you come home with the dog. If you let things slide and offer no guidance or correction to your dog until later on, it may be too late for you to correct any problems. Some dogs can be very headstrong and stubborn once they learn behavior and stay with it.
If you begin training right away, it will be easier for you and the dog. The dog will begin to learn the behaviors that are expected and the rewards and corrections that results from either behaving or misbehaving. This will make it less stressful for both parties involved.
You also need to remember that your dog will not be trained overnight. It is going to take constant training, reinforcement and repetition before you will see any results. This has to be expected from the start or you will get incredibly frustrated with the process. You may need to spend thirty minutes a day or more at first working on basic commands and simple behaviors that you want. Keep at it and do not give up easily.
Starting off with easier and simpler commands with your dog can get the whole process off to a good start. Something like \”sit\” is usually an easy thing for the dog to learn and should not take too long. Be sure to give high praise and maybe even a treat for the smallest accomplishment. The dog will see the positive result of him following the command and want to replicate it again to get a similar result. This is how you can get things off to a good start.
Training your dog is not something that will simply happen in a day, a week or even a month. It is a constant and ongoing process throughout the life and relationship with your pet. Over time, you will see all the results of your hard work as your dog develops into the loving companion you always wanted.
