Jannat 2 has a lot riding on it given the fact that it is the second instalment of superhot Jannat series, the original of which forced people to go to theatres even at a time when Television sets were more important than silver screens. It was the time when Indian Premier League was on. But Jannat managed to beat the IPL hysteria and gained well. Same is expected of Jannat 2 which releases on May 4, 2012 and has a pretty decent plotline of international trade.

Produced by Bhatts’ Vishesh Films, Jannat 2 has Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta and Randeep Hooda in pivotal roles. Mahesh Bhatt is mighty impressed with the way the follow up has turned out. He told a daily that Jannat made a place in people’s heart and highlighted the flip side of cricket. Jannat 2 now will bring curtains down on arms racket prevalent in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi states of India where buying arms is as easy as buying anything else. So he is sure it will strike a chord with the audience. Now, that is something we will know when Jannat 2’s review will hit the stands.

For Bhatts, Emraan Hashmi’s allegiance to the camp comes up involuntarily. He has delivered some of his biggest hits under the banner and Mahesh Bhatt agrees that they have worked a lot on Emraan. But his trust on the actor has increased with time. They saw potential in him and gave him the chance to excel which he did. There were reports of Bhatts being cross with Emraan for signing many films outside their own banner. Apparently, this also created a rift in their relationship. But all that is just speculation and nothing else. With the way Bhatts are praising Emraan now, it seems if there was any difference of opinion at all between the two, it has been sorted out.

Like every other Bhatt presentation, Jannat 2’s songs are climbing the music charts positively. When Emraan was asked to comment on it, he said that the expectations with the music of every Vishesh Films’ project are always high as they have delivered good music every time. Emraan says that they started working on Jannat 2’s melodies while the film was still getting written as they had the task of matching up to Jannat’s standards which had beautiful songs. Fortunately Jannat 2’s songs have also managed to get equal number of hits and likes the moment they were released.

Now, when talking about an Emraan Hashmi movie, failing to broach the subject of physical intimacy and love making scenes will be nothing less than a sin. All his movies have such sequences that in a way were his claim to fame till movies like “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” happened. Every time you say Emraan Hashmi, people get reminded more about his provocative proximity with heroines on screen than his histrionics. But the man has managed to make people look past that and appreciate his acting skills. Today, he is one of the bankable actors on Bollywood who can single-handedly spell success for a film. Jannat 2’s review will ascertain whether or not Emraan will continue to weave his magic at the Box Office. So on May 4, we will know if Jannat 2 has in it to equal Jannat’s success or will it just end up being a worse follow up of a formidable original.
