Houston Top Nightlife Karaoke Numbers
When I am looking for what to do in Houston, I have to admit one of the things that is not very high on my list is karaoke. I am not good at it, I have a terrible singing voice and I have no desire to share it with everyone and inflict that kind of pain on them. That being said, I have been talked into doing it a few times by girlfriends and just drunk friends who thought it would be fun to do. If you are going to do any karaoke, they are certain songs that you really have to consider a must to be sung.
If you are playing on doing a duet with a young lady, the one they are most likely to pick is “Summer Nights” from Grease. For the guy, this one is not so tough. John Travolta wasn’t much of a singer to begin with, so you can almost talk your way through this one and still do a good job. This one is okay to do and it will let you score some brownie points with your date.
If you have been drinking a lot, one of the go to songs is always “Friends in Low Places.” Everyone will be glad to sing along with you as you hit the chorus to this one. It’s one of those songs that people seem to really like and relate to, so you can score some big points with the crowd by doing this one.
Of course, no karaoke is complete without “Don’t Stop Believin'” being sung. This is one of those songs that you have to get your buddies up on stage with you to sing. It’s another one that everyone knows the words to and you are pretty much guaranteed to have the whole bar or club singing along with you as you do this one. Don’t hurt yourself trying the high notes.
All the ladies seem to go to ‘I will Survive” as the song they want to sing with their friends. I saw acute group of Swedish girls do this one in a bar one night. They could barely speak any English at all, but they knew how to sing this song and the whole place was cheering for them. It didn’t hurt that they were all beautiful and the bar was filled with drunk guys.
A classic one to try is also “Sweet Caroline.” This is another song that everyone knows the words to and people like to sing along to this one. I am no Neil Diamond, but even I have tried to do this one before and have succeeded.
I never set out to do karaoke when I go out on the weekends. It’s not high on my agenda when I think of what to do in Houston. However, I am always prepared to do it if I have to and try to make the best impression that I can. Rock on!
