Emaar Case About Emaar Properties Scandal Appears to be a Hoax
It is not every day that you hear about an alleged scandal with a name that is scandalous itself. Investigations into the Emaar case which is also known as the Emaar properties scandal is headed towards an interesting turn as the findings indicate that the real estate company may have nothing to do with it. That is why it is a little funny that the scandal is named after the real estate company which may just turn out to be a victim of the entire controversy or the scandal. In the city oh Hyderabad, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation or APIIC was to construct a luxury residential township though the corporation’s main task is to maintain and create industrial infrastructure. As the project was huge, APIIC decided to rope in a partner in the project and Emaar MGF won the bid. Soon after the project was launched, rumors about alleged misdoings started coming up and then allegation of undervaluation of land started doing the rounds. Without any investigation or analysis of the situation, it was assumed that Emaar MGF must have taken some wrong steps and hence the controversy quickly picked up the name of Emaar Case or Emaar Properties Scandal. With CBI investigations now suggesting that the role of the other parties should rather be checked thoroughly, including that of APIIC, it is slowly emerging that Emaar MGF may be a victim of bad publicity.
Entering India in 2005 when FDI was finally allowed by the Indian government in the real estate sector which was earlier highly regulated, Emaar partnered MGF and immediately started garnering a name for itself. Renowned world over for its transparent working culture and as an efficient organization, it was not a surprise that Emaar made a name for itself in India within no time. Though there are not many world record breaking construction projects yet launched by Emaar in India, the real estate industry is expecting something equally huge from Emaar in India as it has done in its home city of Dubai. It is worth mentioning that Emaar is the company behind the construction of the world’s tallest structure in Dubai known as The Burj Khalifa. Not only the tallest building in the world was created by Emaar, it also conceptualized and constructed The Dubai Mall, world’s biggest operational mall. It remains to be seen if such spectacular architectural projects are taken up by Emaar in India.
As the things are progressing, it appears that the real estate giant has left the sour experience of the entire Emaar case issue behind. With Emaar properties scandal slowly fading out of the media coverage and the name of the company being cleared by investigating agencies, Emaar is focusing on other projects without losing sleep over a non-issue. There already are rumors that Emaar MGF together may be working on some ambitious projects in the capital city Delhi and the old capital city Kolkata in West Bengal. New Delhi has already witnessed the work of Emaar in the prestigious Commonwealth Games Village which was completed in time before the 2010 games for which athletes from all over the world required world class living facilities and the Games Village was constructed just for that reason. Emaar’s reputation follows it wherever it goes and it has never failed to impress the market watchers. Lets see what this giant has in store for India.
