Before full removal, dampen the materials that are covered in mold. This is a helpful tip because if you do not, the airborn spores will go everywhere. So if you dampen the materials, it will lessen the chance of the spores to go airborne.

Scrub the molded area with a mild, non ammonia detergent or soap. You do not want to use ammonia or bleach soaps, because of the fumes that can form. Disinfecting the area with any type of disinfectant will get rid of any mold that was left behind when your were trying to clean it. It can also help from coming back. You just have to make sure that area is fully dried and stays that way.

Tip #5: Check your home often for mold. Make this a habit for your whole family. Finding mold sooner than later can fight against any sickness and can catch the problem before having to redo the whole area. The sooner you catch the problem, the less work you will have to do.

Tip #6: If you have had mold in your home before, you can always have your materials tested for mold. You can do this every few months to insure your home is not being overtaken by mold and it\’s nasty spores.
