Your resume is your ticket in getting a potential employer\’s attention. It is important that you present a powerful curriculum vitae that will make that employer practically ignore other candidates for the job. It lets the company know your skills, work experience, achievements, and education that will help them determine if you are the right one for the job.

The things that you present on your resume must be impressive but remember to avoid inserting something that is not true. Choose 16 as your font size for your name, size 14 for the headings, and size 12 for the content. Write the letters of your name in boldface; do so for the headings as well. Use white spaces or blank lines because doing so will make your resume formal, clean, and readable. Choose black font color and plain white paper.

The Layout

Put your name on the topmost part of your resume using size 16 font in bold letters. Immediately beneath your name, write your home address, e-mail address, and contact numbers. This will greatly help the human resources department of the company when they try to get hold of you.

State the position that you are interested in and your objective in choosing the company. Say the things that you can contribute to the company to make it flourish even more.

Create a separate section solely devoted to your skills that the company might find beneficial to them. Put at least five to seven top skills. Remember to say only the things that are true and avoid fabricating any information. Include specific skills that you will need for the job and if you have expertise with certain applications or computer programs, office equipment, and the likes. It will certainly make the resume look good and impressive.

Make a section for work history with separate heading and make sure to include all prior work experience especially the ones that helped you gain such skills. The proof can strengthen your resume even more. You must also give a brief description of your duties and responsibilities from that particular employment.

The section for education must contain the list of schools that you have attended, the highest education that you have obtained, and the date of completion as well as your earned degree. You can also include any job-related training in this section of your resume that can make the company think that you are too valuable to let go.

If you are a fresh graduate who is yet to prove your worth, then you can include the different seminars and trainings that you have attended. Make it appear that you have truly gained so much knowledge from the seminars that can help you with your work. Convey a message that you are willing to learn further as you go along and you will do everything you can and grow with the company. Sprinkle your CV with positive visions with the company but keep it minimal.

Keep your resume simple, concise, readable, and full of meaty facts while maintaining the formal and elegant appearance that it should have. Make sure that you have conveyed the right message to prompt your employer to choose you without second thoughts.
