5-Star Grand Canyon Helicopters Make Better Sightseeing Trips
In the world of Grand Canyon helicopter tours, there are basic and deluxe flights. The former are a great option for budget travelers. However, upon closer inspection, it\’s the deluxe flights that appear to be the better value.
The Rims
There are two places from which you can take a Canyon helicopter tour: Las Vegas and the South Rim (Tusayan, AZ). Understand that only flights from Las Vegas are allowed to fly below the rim and land at the bottom.
Speaking of Vegas, it\’s the place where you really have an opportunity to load up on deluxe, quality tours. For starters, try to get flights that leave from the Vegas Strip. These are much more convenient and include free limousine or deluxe van service to and from your hotel.
Moreover, Strip departures include a tour over The Strip on the return. That\’s right. Once you\’ve experienced the Canyon, you head to the north end of Las Vegas Boulevard, round the Stratosphere Tower and head down to the Luxor pyramid. It\’s a breathtaking experience.
Better Helicopters
What I also like about deluxe Strip departures is that they always use the EcoStar 130. This is the most superior chopper flying the skies today. Its cabin is 25 percent larger than its competitors and it\’s configured with stadium-style seats.
The EcoStar is also outfitted with a 180-degree windshield so you get huge, panoramic views of the Canyon and Vegas. Lastly, the EcoStar is designed to be fast and quiet, which is awesome as you hover quietly over all the key landmarks while experiencing terrific stability.
The South Rim also has deluxe versions of its tours. Note again that flights here don\’t go below the rim, which is fine by me because the aerial views of this area are absolutely stunning. Deluxe trips are either 30 minutes or 50 minutes in length and always use the EcoStar.
The Costs
Indeed, deluxe tours cost more than basic tours. But the perks you get with the deluxe flights truly make them the better value in my opinion. The only thing to be concerned about is that these trips are very limited. To get around this, always book them one or two weeks in advance.
There\’s nothing to be concerned about when booking ahead of time. If your travel plans change or you have to cancel, you can do so within 48 hours of your flight date and get a 100 percent refund. These cancel policies were put together specifically to help savvy travelers who like to plan ahead and save money on deluxe flights.
Another thing to consider is booking online. I always recommend it. Not only because it\’s super easy and secure, but also because it\’s the one true way to save money. And I\’m not talking about a few dollars. Based on my own experience and other travelers I\’ve helped, the savings can be as high as 35 percent!
Conclusion
I hope this article has been helpful as you search for quality Grand Canyon helicopter tours from Las Vegas and the South Rim. As said earlier, I understand deluxe trips cost more but they pack in more value. And if you do go for one of these 5-star tours, make sure to book one or two weeks ahead of time and online. That way you\’ll have a better shot at getting one at a great price.
