These Las Vegas Helicopters Land at Bottom of Grand Canyon
Visiting Las Vegas and looking for adventure? Why not a Grand Canyon helicopter tour to the bottom topped with a Champagne toast? It\’s a great way to spend a day while visiting Sin City and one you\’ll never forget.
Las Vegas is the only place from which you can take a helicopter tour to the Canyon and fly below the Rim and land at the base. Further, you can also add a Colorado River boat ride and VIP Skywalk passes to the package.
Vegas!
These trip leave daily from Vegas and go over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon before making the descent. Time at the bottom is usually 30 minutes and then it\’s back to the top for the return to Vegas.
I do want to point out that these tours come in basic and deluxe versions. The basic one uses a more conventional helicopter like an AStar or a Bell Ranger while deluxe tours utilize the EcoStar.
To my mind, the EcoStar is vastly superior because it\’s 25 percent larger than the other choppers. This size increase means that the EcoStar is outfitted with stadium-style bucket seats and a massive 180-degree wraparound windshield.
Superior Helicopters
EcoStars are also designed to be more aerodynamic so you get a smoother ride. Plus they have superior climate-control, which is important during summer months when temperatures go over 100 degrees and higher!
Deluxe landing tours also come with limousine service to and from your Vegas hotel. Furthermore, they also include a tour over the Las Vegas Strip that goes all the way from the Stratosphere Tower to the Luxor Pyramid.
As I said, landing tours are only available from Las Vegas. If you are based at the South Rim, which is 277 miles from Vegas, your options are air-only and a helicopter-jeep combo. The air-only tours come in basic and deluxe 30-minute and 50-minute packages.
South Rim
The shorter tour goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back. The longer one does that, too, plus everything up to the Park\’s eastern border. Frankly, I prefer the 50-minute flight because it lets you see nearly all the Canyon in less than an hour.
Of late, the helicopter-Jeep tour has become a real hit with travelers. It features a 30-minute helicopter ride that\’s followed by a 2-hour Jeep tour inside the Park. The Jeep, in my opinion is the most efficient way to see the Park and stops at all the key landmarks and overlooks.
Conclusion
I hope this article about Las Vegas helicopters that land at the bottom of the Grand Canyon proved helpful. Remember, these landing tours are only available from Las Vegas. The most popular is the one that includes a Champagne toast, which can be upgraded to be done at sunset.
Please book these landing tours in advance as they regularly sell out. Also, you\’ll probably get the best price if you purchase them over the Internet. I know from past experience that I\’ve personally been able to save friends and family up to 35 percent on such flights.
