5 Ways to Enjoy at Nosara
How does this sound? Wake up early as the soft light of sunrise slowly filters into in your luxurious bungalow, stroll down to the beach for a morning yoga class and after, fuel yourself with breakfast of tropical fruits, at of the many cafes or restaurants.
Now it’s time for some fun, grab yourself a surfboard, and hit those morning waves. Soak up the laid back atmosphere while bobbing in the blue breakers and looking back to the lush national park of Nosara.
Located on the Guanacaste Province in Costa Rica, Nosara is a small town with several attractive beaches and a national park. Still far from being spoilt by mass tourism, it offers a relaxed and tranquil setting for many great adventures to come.
Nosara is well-known for its ‘No shirt, No shoes’ surfer vibe. The clean and pristine beach of Playa Guiones holds the prestigious title of a Blue Flag beach for its dedication to environmental protection, management and safety.

– Yoga – Nosara has an array of yoga classes, these classes help the tourists to get refreshed and rejuvenate. You get to be trained by instructors who are not only well trained and professional but passionate about yoga. There are many yoga classes and schools around town. The Nosara Yoga Institute is the biggest located behind Playa Guiones with breezy studios in a jungle setting.
– Surfing – Hit the waves in Playa Giuones, the big attraction of Nosara is the surf and for good reason. Nosara has year round reliable surf and is the best spot to catch a wave on the peninsula. There are plenty of surf schools and board rentals along beach. Nosara Surf Shop has board rentals from US$15 and surf lessons from US$40.
– Swim – Playa Pelada is a nearby small crescent-shaped beach which is great to for swimming with gentle waves and clean water.
– Zipline – Miss Sky canopy zip line holds the world’s longest zip line title, with a total length of 11,000 meters. The course goes for 4 hours, sailing above and through a pristine forest canopy, until you and dangling over the River Nosara. You will get high amongst the monkeys and birds for a truly adventurous experience.
– Turtle watching – The stunning olive ridley turtles come to nest in Nosara. These turtle are protected by the Ostional Wildlife refuge. People visiting this refuge can observe the eggs as they are being laid by the female turtles. According to many, it is an amazing sight to see the turtles hatching from these eggs and their fight for survival as they make their journey towards the sea.
Getting around – Walking is a great way to get around Nosara, but if you are in a hurry golf carts, motorcycles, and ATV’s can be rented around town.
Getting there
Air – The Liberia international airport is the closest to Nosara with flights from the US, Canada, Europe, and South America. You can hire a 4WD or taxi from the airport straight to Nosara.
Bus – From Nicoya buses depart 4 times daily, for the 2 hour ride to Nosara.
