It may seem impossible for an ocean to die, but when the marine life that lives within the oceans start to die and as more and more species of fish and marine animals die it makes you wonder if the oceans aren’t beginning to die. Mankind has done a lot to rush this death on too. It is because of man that there are polluted beaches and oceans. There are oil spills from oil rigs and tankers. There is garbage and medical waste that is killing off the wild creatures that depend on the ocean to survive. In some ways we are even responsible for the climate changes that are affecting the oceans and their wildlife.

How to Stop the Destruction of the Oceans

With a little work there may be a way to turn much of the damage around. You can do everything in your power to fight pollution. In the future there is the possibility that we won’t be dependent on fuel for our cars and homes. Electrical cars can really cut back on the fuel usage so there won’t be as much need for oil rigs and oil tankers to travel the oceans. It will take a lot of work but in the future there is a good chance we can turn around the loss of numbers in many marine species.

Right now the oceans are being overfished. In the UK 25% of the fish disappear because of fishermen. These numbers are even worse in other parts of the world. If fish farms were to be run safely without the chemicals it could actually help the environment instead of hurt it like it is doing now. Although fish farms may save on wild species being caught, these fisheries use chemicals that are poisoning fish and other wildlife. Fishermen are killing seals in the UK with little regard to the safety of the seal populations.

Sea Creatures Are Being Effected

Many animals like seals and whales are being hunted near to extinction. Most whales and seals are now considered endangered because they were too vigorously hunted in the past. Even today there are some countries that still allow the killing of seals and whales in the wild. If it weren’t for animal activists, they would probably go unchecked. Green Peace and many other animal activists have decided to make everyone in the world aware of what is happening in the hopes that this indiscriminate killing can be stopped for good.

It is true that the climate is having a devastating effect on the ocean animals and fish. The water is getting to be too warm and the polar ice caps are melting. Many species of fish are moving to try to find colder waters. With the ice disappearing there is little habitat left for creatures that depend on it to make their homes. Seals are part of the marine environment that is being greatly affected. Some say that the warmer temperatures are because of the greenhouse effect which was brought about by people. If we want to save the oceans for future generations we need to act quickly to preserve and protect. We can change the conditions so the ocean can repair itself.
