Essential Principles For Creating Minimalist Web Design
Minimalist web design is such a misleading word. More often than not it is thought to be something with less substance. However, much to the contrary, it is quite the opposite. By this we mean that minimalist web design simply means that the design is minimal – it has nothing to do with substance. In fact, if you look at some of the finest works of art throughout the ages, you notice that the they are often quite minimalist. The best of artists and architects have had designs that look simple but speak to your intuitions.
Same has been the case with the different types of minimalist web design that are created by the best companies of web development. If you look around yourself, you will see numerous websites that work on the idea of minimalistic structures. In fact, you don’t have to really struggle to look around and see examples. Some of the websites that we use everyday are simple. This includes the mammoth search engine Google. Notice how the background is so basic white in color and comes with a very intuitive design structure. This turns out to be a massive hit because it speaks to you and does not try to be overdone.
Another great example of minimalist web design are all the content of Apple Inc. that you can see over the internet. Most pages have a pale silvery background and come with minimal texts. Content also matters. If your page is over filled with content, it might lose its worth. Hence, you need to have rather precise words that are hard hitting and to the point. Try and always use the basic color backgrounds, and using lighter shades is always better. Fonts of Sans Serif are compatible with similar fonts and the best ones for content are Arial and Calibri. Along with this, also make sure that the headings are highlighted properly.
Use of flash material and gif formats is slowly becoming a cliche. This is because it has been done so many times that it is losing the strength it used to have once. Therefore, try and refrain from placing these until or unless they seem to be just supremely essential. Use a nice photograph that is original and can speak to the audience. Images and videos can look perfect but should be purposeful.
Look at different minimalist web design to make sure you get the feel of it. There is a need to feel the flow that these web sites have. A basic idea behind most such web designs is that they are based on human instincts. If your design seems to look intuitive and effortlessly, it allows the web surfer to browse easily through it, then you should be rest assured that the design has done its job!
