How to Use Bhringaraj Powder For Thicker, Stronger Hair

In Ayurveda, powders have long been made using dried herbs and utilised for the health benefits they offer. For hair, the most effective herb for faster and healthier hair growth is called Bhringaraj. Bhringaraj is a herb that has been used in Ayurveda to treat hair loss and skin infections reliably for thousands of years. It is also commonly called Maka in India where it has been used to treat, aches and pain, boost circulation, liver and kidney conditions thanks to its anti-inflammatory and anti viral properties.

Bhringaraj oil is steadily becoming more popular in the West as people discover a natural way of thickening their hair without any fear of damage or side effects. Scientific studies have backed Ayurvedic medicine by proving Bhringaraj to be more effective than the 2% minoxidil concentration usually recommended for women.

As a hair growth oil, it can be added to your hair care regime as a scalp massage oil that can be used once or twice a week. The anti inflammatory substances in the oil are great for soothing inflamed scalps and the anti viral properties keep scalp infections at bay. However the most important attribute this herb has is its ability to increase the flow of blood in the scalp.

The oils typically sold in stores are made with a coconut or sesame seed oil base. You can increase the potency of the oil by adding a little extra Bhringaraj powder to the oil. In order not to clog your follicles, it is advisable to massage the oil into your hair at night and wash it out the following morning.

Bhringaraj powder can also be used as a scalp exfoliator. It is never advisable to attempt scalp exfoliation if you are wearing hair extensions. When using Bhringaraj powder as a scalp exfoliator, mix 2 heaped tablespoons of powder with a little water to form a thick paste. Dissolve a teaspoon of sulphur powder (MSM) in a teaspoon of warm water. The MSM mixture should stay grainy. Add it to the Bhringaraj powder paste to finish off your scalp exfoliator. Apply it to your scalp using circular motions after shampooing, with a clean soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly before applying a hair conditioner.

Exfoliating your scalp serves the same purpose as exfoliating your face or body. It sloughs off rough dead skin that is blocking your pores and exposes healthy new skin. This is important to make sure all available hair follicles have a clear pathway to grow healthy hairs. The Bhringaraj powder penetrates the follicle and increases circulation allowing important nutrients required for hair growth to reach their intended destination.

This hair growth oil is not only effective for baldness, it works just as well on thinning hair. The oil can also have a darkening effect on your hair. It is commonly combined with other plants like Indigo and Hemp to make natural hair dyes. If you’ve got fair hair, you may want to do a patch test before applying the oil or powder on all of your scalp.
