Most people visiting Sin City find so much to see and do on the Strip that they never go anywhere else. That’s a mistake that you’ll want to avoid. No trip to Las Vegas would be complete without paying a visit to the magnificent Grand Canyon. I guarantee you’ll be thrilled if you add the canyon to your list of things to see.

Although there are other ways to see the National Park, the best choices are tours by bus, airplane or helicopter. Most people choose one of these three types of Las Vegas Grand Canyon tours based on their time and budget. If you’re short on time, take an airplane or chopper, but if you have all day, a bus tour is an option. Bus tours are the cheapest, helicopter tours are the most expensive, and airplane tours fall in between.

Bus tours are perfect for people with limited budgets, but they’re also great for travelers who would rather not fly. You can catch one to either the South Rim or the West Rim. It takes 5 1/2 hours to arrive at the South Rim; the West Rim is about a 2 1/2 hour ride. No matter which of these bus tours you choose, from start to finish it will take over 12 hours. That’s why I recommend you avoid making any show or dinner reservations that evening.

Personally, I think the helicopter tours are jam-packed with thrills and give you the most rewarding Grand Canyon experience. Except on Christmas Day, direct chopper flights from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon West (the West Rim of the canyon) are scheduled on a daily basis. There aren’t any direct helicopter flights from Vegas to the South Rim, so you’ll need to book a combo tour that also includes a bus ride or a plane flight if you’re starting out from Vegas and you want a South Rim helicopter tour. I recommend opting for the plane. The South Rim is a 5 1/2 hour bus ride away, but by plane it only takes 45 minutes.

You can choose a landing ‘copter tour or an air-only flight. Landing tours either land at the top or (only at the West Rim) on the canyon floor. They also let you add extra experiences like passes to the Grand Canyon Skywalk or a float trip down the Colorado River. I always suggest landing tours for travelers with the time and budget. They provide a more fulfilling, comprehensive canyon experience. If that’s not an option, air-only tours will give you panoramic, birds-eye views of the National Park.

Air-only and landing versions of airplane tours are also available. Airplanes are the quickest way to travel to the West Rim, bar none. The planes are bigger than many people think – they can seat as many as 19 adults. They’re also designed specifically for sightseeing. Among other things, their wings are attached at the top of the fuselage to permit unobstructed views, and their windows are larger than normal.

If you’ll be traveling with a large group, an airplane tour might be the best choice. Choppers only seat six, but your entire group could fly on the same plane and it wouldn’t be anywhere near as expensive. Normally you’ll be able to book everyone into an airplane tour even if you’ll be traveling during tourist season.

Las Vegas Grand Canyon tours include complimentary hotel pickup and drop-off, lunch (except air-only chopper and plane flights), the services of a highly trained guide, and all taxes and park fees. You don’t need to worry about planning anything. They’re truly all-inclusive and give you great value. Las Vegas Grand Canyon tours deliver a remarkable experience, and I highly recommend them.
