When I think about where to go in Houston TX, there are so many choices and so many different places that I have been, that it gets hard to keep track of all of them. My friends and I like to go to the many different bars and clubs around the city, and since we are all single, we do like to try our luck and meeting some ladies.

Unfortunately, a lot of the time we decide to try our luck after we may have already had a little bit too much to drink, which does not help things. Over time though, we have developed a few pickup moves that do seem to work better if you have had a little too much.

The one I find to be the most effective is to play the part of the drunken sap that got dumped by his girlfriend. I’ll sit at the bar near a few girls and start off by having a drink and looking pretty sad. Then I’ll start glancing down at on old picture I have. Sometimes it actually is an old girlfriend, but I have used pictures of people I don’t even know before.

After making some sobbing noises while I finished my drink, I look up to see if I have drawn any attention of the ladies I am near. If I have, I give a weak smile and look down again, hoping that perhaps will draw a young lady into a conversation. If that still hasn’t worked then I move into my backup plan.

I make my way over to where the ladies are and try to start up a conversation, picking one of them to call the name of a good friend of my former girlfriend. When she tells me that she isn’t the person I am looking for, I get all weepy and apologize, saying I am distraught that it’s hard for me to even concentrate. Usually this is enough to at least get the compassion of one of the group.

After I explain how my ex-girlfriend up and left me for some musician and on the night I was going to propose to her, my new lady friend starts to feel bad for my circumstances. Inevitably, we end up having more drinks together. If all goes well, we may actually end up going out a few times.

Of course, I could never build a relationship this way. If it went on too long, eventually the truth would come out and I would look like the heel I really am. It does give me the opportunity to go out and date some different people however and a few of my buddies have had this work for them too.

Trying to pick someone up when you are drunk may not be the easiest thing in the world. You have to try to be smooth when you may not have all your faculties together. No matter what place you end up when deciding where to go in Houston TX, try to take the saner approach and talk to the girls while you’re sober.
