Junior Golf Classes to Make Summer Fun!
As you are trying to figure out what you are going to do with your kids this summer, keep in mind that junior golf classes or clinics are a very popular way to learn the game of golf. Junior classes have many benefits to them such as a comfortable learning environment, a lower cost to you and they will still get the fundamentals of how to play the game.
Obviously, you will want to take a few things into consideration before you enroll your child in to junior golf classes. You will want to take their age and interest into account while trying to find the best opportunity for them. You will want to ask about the curriculum of the classes, group size and student teacher ratio. Once that is established and you think it will be a good fit then here are some of the benefits that your child will receive.
Expense
Being in a group class as opposed to being in a one on one private golf lesson will cost much less. The cost of both junior golf classes and private lessons will vary from instructor to instructor across the country. However, if your child is just learning to play the game, they can get a lot out of properly run junior golf clinics. You may be able to find a schedule of classes that is close to the same price as one individual golf lesson.
Social Aspect
With technology and video games ruling many of our children’s lives these days, being placed in a group to interact with the instructor as well as the other children is a great experience for them. Kids can learn social skills that they will utilize the rest of their lives due to some of the group activities. In addition, many kids can be intimidated by taking a golf lesson one on one from a golf professional, most adults are!
Fundamentals
If your child is a beginner, junior golf classes are a great way for them to learn the fundamentals of the game. The instructor should cover how to hold the golf club, also known as the grip. Again, how in depth the instructor goes will depend on the age and/or golf maturity of your child. The grip is very important as it is the only connection that a golfer has to the club throughout the swing. Stance and posture should also be a main topic that will be covered and taught. The emphasis here should be in active balance. This simply means that they have balance form their toes to heels as well as from side to side. Lastly, they should also cover what is a good finish position and what a finish position should look and feel like.
These are just three of the many benefits that you and more importantly your child will receive by attending well run junior golf classes. By getting them involved in the game at an early age, you will have given them a gift because they will be able to play the game throughout their life, unlike other sports, for pleasure or business.
