How to Put Future Fins Into My Surfboard
One of the best features about many surfboards that you buy is the ability to customize your board as you like. You can add one, two, or even sometimes four fins to your board, making it move the way that you want it to. Future Fins is a top of the line company that makes super easy-to-install fins for your boards with great durability and style as well. Installing your Future Fins to your board is a very simple process that takes very little time, knowledge and supplies.
What You Need:
All you need to install your Future Fin is the fin or fins that you want to install and what is called a Future Key. This is simply an Allen Wrench that is the right size to fit the screws on a surfboard with an end that you can attach to your keychain so you will not lose it and will be guaranteed to have it with you almost anywhere you go.
The first thing you need to look at is the bottom of your surfboard where the fins attach. You should have the number of fins that corresponds to the number of in boxes you have on the bottom of your board. These boxes are simply called fin boxes. They have stopper screws to hold the fins in and notches on the back so that the fins will fight tight. The steps to putting in your fins are as follows:
1. Turn the screws so that they back out of the fin boxes and you will be able to set the fin inside the box without hitting a screw.
2. Take your fins and turn them so that the flat side faces inward and the numbers face out. Of course, make sure that the fin is going in the right direction as well. A backward fin will look silly and make your board not work right at all.
3. Place the fin inside the box, first in the notch in the back. Set the front down and hold the fin in place while you get ready to tighten the screw.
4. Take your Future key and screw the screw in tight. Be careful to not do this too tight so that the threads are not stripped. If you strip a screw and try to change a fin, you could end up with a repair that will cost you $50-$60. Nobody wants that from a tiny screw.
5. Make sure the fin is tight by wiggling it a little. Your fin is now installed and you are ready to enjoy your day surfing.
That is all you have to do. Installing your Future Fin to your board is really that simple to do. You can complete the process in only a few minutes and be on your way to a day of surfing and fun on the beach with the confidence that your new fins are the highest quality possible and will look great and hold up on your board as well.
