\’Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus\’ Men are charismatic though brutal to a fault, especially when it comes to emotional issues while Women are alluring but emotionally erratic. Men and women have such tempestuous, distinct characteristics that they might as well be from other planets which is why it is strangely ironic they mirror the planets they are likened to. The battle of the sexes is as iconic as time yet we gravitate to each other, melding like fire and ice. Fighting like cat and dog, we still cannot deny the mating call that either calls as soft as the wind or rages like a violent storm.

Mars and Venus hold a special place for men and women so it should be with great vested interest that we bear witness to a celestial event where these two planets are involved. On the 28th October 2015, one of the rarest celestial events will occur (even rarer than the sexes actually being on the same page) where three planets configure a triple conjunction in the form of triangle in a tight 1-degree formation. Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will be in alignment and form a phenomenally sparkling triangle.

You will be able to catch a glimpse of this with the naked eye, but to truly appreciated the beauty of this rare event you will need to use a telescope. Any telescope, either a reflecting or refracting telescope will allow you to view this conjunction in all its splendor.

Mars

Mars is about 4,217 miles or 6,787 km, which is half the size of planet Earth, it has an atmosphere which consists of 90% carbon dioxide and is famous for its dusty red hue, which is simply caused by oxidized rocks and dust. Mars is more like Earth than any other planet because it has seasons and their day (Martians call it a sol) is 24 hours and 37 minutes long.

Although a lot like Earth in some respects temperatures on Mars can be quite erratic, ranging from a humble 20 degrees Celsius during the day to an arctic like temperature of minus 125 degrees Celsius over night.

Venus

Venus is the bright \’star\’ of the night and due to its luminosity is quite often mistaken for a UFO. It has an atmospheric pressure 90 times heavier than Earth with temperatures that can reach as high as 460 degrees Celsius

The planet is covered in a blanket of sulfuric acid clouds that tend to reflect spark-like flashes causing Venus to glow red.

Jupiter

Jupiter is another bright planet that can take up to 12 years to circle our sky and weighs about 318 earths. The diameter is 89,400 miles, that\’s about 143,800 km and made up predominantly of gas: 80% hydrogen, 19% helium and the remaining percentages are shared with methane as well as ammonia. Jupiter has an array of craters and volcanic deposits that make it strike a remarkable resemblance to a pizza, it is for this reason that Jupiter is a favorite of many astronomers.

Whether you are showing your children the beauty of a celestial event such as The Triangle Conjunction of Venus, Mars, and Jupiter or simply enjoying a close look at the surface of the Moon, what\’s hidden in the stars is amazing and a joy for all ages.

The Triangle conjunction of Venus, Mars, and Jupiter on the 28th October 2015 is a \’not-to-be-missed\’ celestial event. It\’s a rare occasion where you see three planets for the price of one in all their glowing brilliance.
