If you consider yourself a true fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, perhaps a trip to their home field is just what you need to get your fill of football history. This is a great city with many things to do for you and your family.

There are many activities in the area centered on the Philadelphia Eagles, a professional American football team based in Pennsylvania. They are members of the East Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).

The Eagles are a much achieved team as they have won three NFL titles and made two Super Bowl appearances, losing both in 1980 to the Oakland Raiders and in 2004 to the New England Patriots. The club was created in 1933 as a replacement for the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets by future NFL commissioner Bert Bell, who purchased the rights to the team.

Then, the time came to name the team. They were named after the Blue Eagle, a symbol used for the New Deal stimulus programs initiated during the Great Depression.

There are many famous players who have come and gone from the area. Some of them have even been inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame including Chuck Bednarik, Bob Brown, Reggie White, Steve Van Buren, Tommy McDonald, Earle “Greasy” Neale, Pete Pihos, Sonny Jurgensen and Norm Van Brocklin.

Later on, even Bert Bell was inducted Brand Viagra as a contributor for all of his donations and help to the legion. However, it was not always such an accomplished set of players and sponsors; they have all endured much and worked their way to their current status.

The history starts out midway through the 1931 season when the Frankford Yellow Jackets went bankrupt and ceased their league. Over a year went by searching for a worthy replacement when the NFL awarded the dormant franchise to a syndicate headed by Bert Bell and Lud Wray.

With a fresh new start, almost no Yellow Jackets players were on the Eagles’ first roster. Along with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Reds, the Philly team joined the NFL as an expansion lineup.

In 1940, the Eagles moved to Shibe Park and played their home games at the stadium through the year 1957. Shibe Park was later renamed and now known as Connie Mack Stadium ever since 1953.

During their first decade, the Philadelphia players struggled and endured many losing seasons. It reached a desperate state in 1943 when the Levitra Professional roster was short due to the drafts of World War II.

Impossible to fill all the team slots, they merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers to form the Phil-Pitt Eagles and were known for a short time as the Steagles. That merge only lasted for one season before they split and continued to work toward earning their success stories.

By the later 1940s, head coach Earle “Greasy” Neale and running back Steve Van Buren led the team to three consecutive NFL Championship Games, winning two of them in 1948 and 1949. Those two championships signify the Eagles as the only NFL team ever to win two consecutive championships by shutouts with their defeating the Chicago Cardinals 7-0 in 1948 in a blizzard and the Los Angeles Rams 14-0 in 1949.

Before that, this team never seemed to draw much of a crowd, leaving their thirty nine thousand holding stadium filled at about twenty five to thirty thousand. After this, they began earning respect and gaining more attention.

Then, in 1957, the Eagles moved from Connie Mack Stadium to Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania. This stadium seats over 60,000 which is nearly double their previous capacity.

The stadium also switched from grass to AstroTurf in 1969. It was the first NFL stadium to use the artificial and more advanced turf.

Their fans are now known as loyal to the end even causing some incidents of rowdy behavior in support of their team. Though that is not encouraged, their faithfulness and loyalty is appreciated and has contributed to what the team is today.

Today, the team is still going strong and has built its fan base up from the ground. Philadelphia is a great place to visit and even attend a game put on by the infamous Eagles.
