Bonnaroo Music Festival Tickets – Something for Everyone in 2010
Music festivals have mass appeal. Not because everyone loves music festivals, though that’s certainly part of it. But because music festivals tend to feature an eclectic range of artists, and the more variety you have, the more people you can appeal to.
Bonnaroo, the infamous music festival that takes place in Manchester, Tenn. each year, is one of the best examples of a festival that goes to great lengths to pitch a large tent. Every genre under the sun, from rock to country, singer-songwriter folk to electronic disco can be found here.
So submitted for your consideration is this quick and handy guide to the various genres that people can look forward to enjoying at Bonnaroo this year in 2010.
Indie rock: Let’s begin with the most obvious category. Alternative rock is the foundation of the Bonnaroo festival. Each year’s lineup is largely cobbled together from a range of up and coming bands, as well as ones with more national appeal. This year, the biggest indie-rock acts will be Phoenix, whose dance-rock has earned them a lot of recognition after years of going unheralded, and the Flaming Lips, whose psychedelic interpretation of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon will probably draw a lot of people out for a trippy good time.
But other acts include the National, who have a new album out this spring, the Black Keys, known for their heavy brand of bluesy-rock, and the xx, a rising band from the U.K. that has made a big splash in the U.S. over the course of the past six months.
Electronica: The biggest electronic act will be LCD Soundsystem, bar none. The dance rhythms of James Murphy are a beautiful thing, and with a new record out, his stage will be very crowded. Besides him, the Nortec Collective will be representing their unique brand of electro from south of the border, marrying Tijuana’s regional music with synthesized beats.
Hip-hop: Hip-hop has gradually made big gains in the Bonnaroo Festival, and while it’s still not a major part of the festival, it’s well represented by figures like B.O.B. and Jay Electronica. Both MCs have drawn the praise of critics and fans. Their rhymes are sure to get your head bobbing.
Country: Though not well represented on most Bonnaroo lineups, the Cross Canadian Ragweed Band is sure to offer up a dose of good country for the fans who want it. You can also expect to hear some unusual new sounds from comedian Steve Martin, who will be performing with his bluegrass Tadalis SX band the Steep Canyon Rangers.
Comedy: With each passing year, Bonnaroo builds an even bigger range of comedy acts. This year, the big snag is late night Kamagra jelly comedian Conan O’Brien, who is heading out on a tour of live stand-up for the first time in years. But besides him, veteran Margaret Cho will be performing, as will popular young comic Aziz Ansari, known for the TV Parks and Recreation. Need Bonnaroo Music Festival tickets? Find them online.
