Aziz Ansari Tickets – 2010 MTV Movie Awards Host
The 2010 MTV Movie Awards were held on Sunday, June 6, and comedian Aziz Ansari hosted the star-studded awards show. Ansari, who you may known for the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, opened the show with a pair of hilarious parodies of two of the year’s biggest films, The Blind Side and Precious, after which point teen pop sensation Justin Bieber introduced the night’s host. Among the funniest hosting moments compiled by MTV was the pre-taped sketch in which Ansari plays Tavon, a “Swagger Coach” to the stars, with the hilarious Zach Galifianakis as his newest pupil, as well as Ansari’s impression of R. Kelly, in which he sang a tribute to Avatar.
Described by the New York Times as “a 27-year-old performer with a bearded baby face,” Ansari grew up in Columbia, S.C. and began performing in comedy clubs in New York before graduating from New York University with a degree in marketing. Along with fellow comedians Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer and director Jason Woliner, Ansari created a series of popular video shorts, and in 2007 MTV handed them a sketch comedy show titled Human Giant. Ansari played a variety of characters on Human Giant-ranging from a police officer whose preferred method of catching criminals was by hot air balloon to a child actors’ Hollywood agent-and caught the attention of the producers of NBC’s Parks and Recreation.
Although Saturday Night Live alumna Amy Poehler is the most recognizable name on Parks and Recreation, the sitcom’s producers actually snagged Ansari for the show before Poehler! Michael Schur, who created Parks and Recreation with Greg Daniels, told the New York Times, “He defies categorization. He’s really sarcastic but also kind of lovable. There’s so much going on with him that we felt it would be funny just to have him and Amy Poehler in the same room.”
Zap2it.com reports that the cast of Parks and Recreation are currently filming the show’s third season, although it won’t premiere until midseason. On May 16, NBC announced that Parks and Recreation would be pushed back to make room for a new comedy, Outsourced.
Parks and Recreation may not be reappearing in the fall, but fans of Ansari can see him on the big screen right now. He has a small part in the new comedy film Get Him to the Greek starring Russell Brand and will begin shooting 30 Minutes or Less (directed by Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland fame) in the near future. Ansari will play the friend of a pizza deliveryman who is forced to rob a bank in the upcoming film.
Despite his film and television roles, Ansari continues to perform stand-up on tour. In the coming months, fans with Aziz Ansari tickets can see him perform in cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, prescription cialis generic Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Washington, D.C. and more through October.
Go online and grab your tickets to see Ansari perform at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tenn. this summer. The 2010 edition of the music and arts festival will feature performances by the Dave Matthews Band, Kinds of Leon, Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Weezer, The Flaming Lips, Norah Jones, The Dead Weather, The Avett Brothers, Thievery Corporation, the Black Keys, Zac Brown Band, Phoenix, Norah Jones, LCD Soundsystem, Regina Spektor and fellow funnyman Conan O’Brien.
