Cotton Candy: Past, Present and Future
Cotton candy is a light and airy confection made out of spun sugar. It has many cute names, such as fairy floss and candy floss. One often finds it when the circus comes to town or while visiting the local fair or carnival. In the 1920’s this county fair favorite was renamed cotton candy and it has stuck ever since.
This sticky treat is now readily available all over the world and can be made in the home. Websites have arrived on the Internet, selling home machines and accessories so that the everyday person can enjoy it in the comfort of their own home. With a little sugar and food coloring, parents all over the country can make their children their very own sweet treats. It is popular at birthday parties, community get-togethers and church banquets. They are not just for circuses and county fairs anymore. This confection has come a long way over the centuries and is still going strong as a family snack favorite.
